Most frequent questions and answers
Yes – there used to be 8km of dirt road. It’s 2WD and caravan accessible in dry weather. Roads are unsealed and generally well maintained. We recommend checking conditions if there has been recent rain.
Yes, caravans and motor homes can access the station without issues in normal weather conditions.
The Carrieton Community store sells fuel during opening hours. Call ahead on (08) 86589030
Telstra signal is available at the office. For wider reception – including other carriers head up one of nearby by hills, “internet hill” is behind the Shearers Quarters. Patchy signal can be found around the property.

We don’t have a dump point here at Almerta. There is dump points at Carrieton, Orroroo, Hawker and Quorn
Most dump point locations have water available. We can only help out season dependant. Please ask if you are in need.
Motorbikes are strictly not allowed, due to keeping low stress on our stock, at discretions of the owners some exceptions may be made. For instance you are travelling on a motorbike.

Yes, we sell firewood to be burnt in the designated fire pits. Fires are subject to seasonal fire bans.
Please note chainsaws are strictly not allowed.
Yes, pets are welcome but ,it’s be under control at all times. Dogs must be on a leash due to livestock and wildlife safety. Our campsites are pet friendly but please ask about accommodation when it comes to pet friendly.
The Quarters are fully self-contained. Here is what you’ll find:
- Fully Equipped kitchen with two fridges, large oven, microwave and espresso coffee machine.
- Hot showers and flushing toilets.
- Indoor and outdoor cooking areas. (Protected BBQ area with BBQ and Weber Q)
What to bring?
- Bedding – sheets, blankets or sleeping bags (can hire linen for extra cost)
- Towels and toiletries
- Food and Drinks
- Nespresso Coffee Pods (available for purchase on site)
- Personal Essentials
Yes – our shop and office stock a selection of local products and essentials including:
- Ice
- Coffee Pods (SQ)
- Almerta Merchandise
- Locally made gifts like earrings, chopping boards, candles and diffusers, native balms, spices and so much more.
The Shearers Quarters are equipped with ramps and a bathroom with wheelchair access. However there is some bedrooms have a small step, please contact us before your visit if you have specific accessibility needs – we are happy to help make your visit to Almerta Station the best we can!
